Find below the version and corresponding bundle number of the BES versions. The third number is the Service Pack (SP) number, e.g. 4.1.5 means version 4.1 with SP5.
HF = Hotfix
MR = Maintenance Release
The bundle number is important when you need to find out which version you are running. It is listed in “Add/Remove Programs”.

Hello Guys,
I have a problem to upgrade my system. Now I have BES 5.0.1 bundle 12. I would like to upgrade to 5.0.4.. So I downloaded the BES SP2 but the installer didnot started. I downloaded BES SP3 It didnot started. So I found the update for BES Express. It is started and after I could upgrade to BES express 5.0.4. Is there any toold to Upgrade BES express to BES. Or how can I upgrade BES 5.0.1 to BES 5.0.4.
Thanks in advance.
Full BES (= paid version) is not compatible with BES Express (= free version). The upgrades are not compatible. So if the service pack for BES Express worked for you, you had BES Express in the first place. You cannot upgrade from BES Express to Full BES.
Hi ,
I have 2 BES servers in Exchange 2007 environment. Existing versions are as below:
5.0.3 (Bundle33)
5.0.0 (Bundle 223)
Now i want to upgradeboth server to latest version what should be the path. Shall i directly install latest SP ?
Also one of my server's Web console is working very slow so i found with MR 6 , its fixed. So please assist me to get fix my issue & update server to latest version. If any other parameter need to upgrade then please share the same.
You can upgrade your 5.0.3 server directly to SP4.
Your 5.0.0 server has to be upgraded to SP3 first and then to SP4.
As a last step, apply MR6 on both.
Thanks for reply.
Is there any need to upgrade Java version with it.?
No, the service packs upgrade Java, so no need for you to touch Java.
I am currently running 5.0.3 bundle 33
I`m assuming i can just go straight to 5.04 and then the latest mr6?
is it a fairly straight forward upgrade?
next / next / finish?
Yes, it was for me.
Still you should do a SQL backup and take a snapshot of the server if possible.
I'm having a blackberry Enterprise Express Server with 5.0.2 (B14) which is not in your list. Can I upgrade it directly into the lates SP available and them after to the MR.
I need help with this
THANKS
BES Express has separate updates and they are not in this list. But in general you can upgrade to the latest SP and then to the latest MR. You can skip the SP/MR versions that are inbetween.
Hi!
We are using Blackberry enterprise server 5.0.2 bundle 36. Can we directly upgrade from 5.0.2 bundle 36 to 5.0.4 or shd bundle 36 needs to removed ?
Hi Chetan
You can go directly to 5.0.4.
Do the BES upgrades stay synched to the BES Express upgrades? For instance, I'm on BES Express 5.0.4 Bundle 38 and would like to apply MR4 but can't get it at the download site.
Hi Sedin
No, BES Express has separate upgrades and does not stay synced with the full BES upgrades.
Hi
i am using BES express 5.0.4 Bundle 38
which upgrade i should go and it it supports to Smartphone
If you need to support the new Z10 and Q10 Blackberry handhelds, you need to setup a BES10 server in parallel. There is no upgrade path. As soon as all phone are migrated to Z10/Q10 you can remove the BES5.
Hi ,
We have BES 4.1.6 MR7 (Bundle171) on Domino , We are planning to install a New BES Server 5.0.3 for Domino and planning to migrate all users from existing to new server ,
Is this possible ?
Can you suggest the possible ways to make this happen smoothly .
Hi Arun
You can upgrade by using Blackberry Transporter which upgrades users without doing an Enterprise Activation (i.e. the user doesn't recognize that they are upgraded).
donde puedo descargar el software, ya que deseo realizar una instalación desde cero
Hi Luc
Translated to English, you wrote (don't speak Spanish, had to use a translator):
"Where I can download the software, because I want to do a clean install"
For the full BES, you can only download the upgrades for free. The full installation packages are only downloadable once you have bought the product.
Yes, first apply Service Pack 3 and then apply MR8.
were using 5.0.1 MR 3 (Bundle 139) can i upgrade to the latest 5.0.3 MR8 256
Thanks for the quick reply. I was looking through the Blackberry website for a comparison between BES and BES Express to see if there are any limitations that would prevent us from moving to this free version but I can find anything.
Can you provide a quick run down on the advantages and disadvantages of BES Express?
Also would it make sense to go to a higher version of our existing BES 4.0.2, such as 4.0.6 instead of or before upgrading to some version of 5?
Have a look at this comparison chart:
http://com-blackberry-us-5p.wwwa.com/apps-software/business/server/express/ComparisonChart_NA_021610_v3.pdf
I don't think the inplace upgrade from 4.0 to 5.0 works, you would have to go from 4.1 to 5.0. So I would setup a new BES 5.0 server and then use the tranporter tool to move people over.
I am running 4.0.2 (Bundle 11), I know, it's old but still running. What is our best upgrade path that doesn't involve spending money?
You can use BES Express 5.0, which is free.
OK i'm sorry, i didn't see that. Is not wrote on blackberry site but i think 5.0.2 (bundle 20) is the version of Blackberry entreprise EXPRESS for Domino. Sorry for that bad question...
I'm running on 5.0.2 (bundle 20). My bundle version isn't list on your topic. How i can upgrade to 5.0.2 MR3 ? (I need this MR for fixes some bug with Domino Lotus Notes)
These version numbers are only valid for Exchange, not for Lotus Notes. I am not familiar with BES for Lotus Notes, so I can't help you there.
Many thanks!!
First install SP3, which brings you to 5.0.3 and then install MR7.
I'm running 5.0.0 MR 4 (Bundle 267).
What's the best path for me to upgrade to the latest?
I have: "5.0.3 (Bundle 12)" How can i update to 5.0.3 MR6 or 5.0.3 MR7?
THX!
You can go directly to MR7. MRs are cumulative.
greta to get all the info in just one place, greetings from Spain
We currently have 5.0.3 MR6 Bundle 163.
What is the upgrade path to 5.0.4 SP4 maintenence release 6
Do we first have to upgrade to 5.0 SP3 MR8 and then to 5.0.4 SP4 maintenence release 6
No, you can go directly to SP4 MR6. No extra steps needed.
Hello ,
Thank you for the help. However , RIM advises that the version has to be at least 5.0.4 (Bundle 38).
Just to be clear. You first have to upgrade to SP4, then to MR6. No extra steps needed.
